Dinner Dance at Monterey Hills Restaurant

The room that are school reserved for the Dinner Dance.

Reserved space by our school, eighth graders (yes, that's me this year) got the Dinner Dance hosted this year on the 29th day of May, in the city of Monterey Park. The restaurant that was reserved is one of the fashionable restaurants in the city--the Monterey Hills Restaurant. Also, May 29, is the day that Monterey Park incorporated as a city in 1916. But anyways, that's not the point. Paying $45 for the Dinner and the Dance was really worth the deal. Continue to read more on my last Dinner (and Dance) with my friends in our middle school years at the Monterey Hill Restaurant.
Posing for pictures, this is not the photo booth.

These were my table-mates for the day.

Getting into the restaurant wasn't hard, but I got kinda lost upon getting there. I was unaware of the fact that other schools also reserved their space in the Restaurant, but luckily I found my way in. I signed in, and entered the room. It was pretty large, with about 9 tables prepared, with an empty space in the middle of the room (for the Dance--duh!). There was also a DJ (btw, his name is Daniel), with his DJ stand, attached to two large speakers, and disco lights. I was fascinated--it was too bad for those that skipped this great opportunity. I found one of my friends, Edward that was already there, and we both took a seat at one of the tables that was near the entrance. Soon, more people signed in and sat down, and eventually, our table was full. The people that sat with me were (IDC if you don't know who they are...) Thomas, Jack, Roberto, Saul, Harley, Arturo, and Edward.

Ice Cream.

I had actually thought that the food was to be served at 5PM, because we were told to get there, but they starting serving us at 6:10, with a plate of salad. The salad included iceberg lettuce, croutons, and shredded cheese. I was pretty delighted! They took our plates when we finished, and brought a basket of sour bread for us. After the sour bread, they took out the main dish--chicken with mashed potato and gravy along with some vegetables on the side. However, before we started chowing down the food, Saul suggested that we clink our cups, which we did, by standing and saying "cheers!!". Arturo chimes in saying that we are the most formal compared to the others (but honestly, nobody really cares....). We then started eating, which my friend Thomas, gave up on using the chopsticks he bought (world record, guy uses chopsticks in an all-American restaurant!), and used the utensils that were set on the table (Thomas later complained that he didn't bring soy sauce....and I'ma die from his Asianess [I mean...I'm an Asian too....]). The main dish did not look like it was a lot, but it was enough to make a full tummy! After they took our plates away, I thought that was it, but a while later, they served a bowl of ice cream, which was a bit sour, so I guess it's raspberry flavor, but who knows.

Line of dancers.

After they have taken everybody's plate, the DJ turned the music loud, and some brave peps started dancing in the middle of the room, which soon others followed. There was also a photo booth right outside the room, which some decided to get their pictures with their friends. I personally don't dance so I stood around taking pictures (and some videos). Somewhere during the middle of the dance, my friends invited me to the photo booth, where we took our pictures, and waited for them to be printed. Meanwhile, I learned that many of my classmates were actually really good dancers (see, they already have a career), and are really good at showing off their skills!! (Some are really good at posing for pictures as well!!) It was a fun two hours dance for everyone, as the DJ played some really popular songs like "Baby Shark", and some other songs that I don't really recall. Soon it was 8:30, and students left as quickly as they had came in. It was FUN, that's all I can say, and again TOO BAD IF YOU DIDN'T COME (and yes, that include those that don't even know what this blogpost is about)!
